Amazonia Nativa Afforestation Project
This holistic, science-driven forestry project near the Colombian Amazon blends the planting of native hardwood trees and açaí palms, revitalizing ecosystems and empowering local communities.
The mission
The Amazonia Nativa project is transforming degraded pasturelands on the border of the Colombian Amazon into thriving, sustainable ecosystems. By planting up to 20,000 hectares with native hardwood trees and açaí palms, this project provides more economic benefits than current land uses such as cattle ranching, incentivizing the transition away from unsustainable practices. Additionally, the project generates long-term positive environmental benefits by growing a vibrant forest cover, including the increased capacity for carbon sequestration and erosion reduction.

How it works
We conduct technical feasibility studies, design programs to meet the highest quality standards in the industry, lead commercial structuring and investment, and manage these programs throughout their lifetime. Our vast experience in carbon project development is driven by a team of in-house environmental market consultants and scientists, each with their own niche expertise. By designing, developing, and operating climate mitigation and adaptation projects, we improve livelihoods and ecosystems.
Pilot, impact, expansion
ACT designed and is funding the Amazonia Nativa carbon program to kickstart transformative reforestation efforts. Launched in partnership with FMO, IFU, and Campo Capital, the pilot phase aims to achieve by 2025:
The planting of 550 hectares with 7 native species, including açaí palms and hardwood trees
Gold Standard certification

Aligning with four of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals
SDG 2 (Zero Hunger): Expanding sustainable açaí cultivation to 20 hectares by 2025 and 1,500 hectares by 2029, enhancing food production and soil quality for sustainable food systems.
SDG 8 (Decent Work): Creating 40 jobs by 2025 and up to 20x more over the project’s lifetime, driving economic growth.
SDG 13 (Climate Action): Planting 550 hectares by 2025, scaling to 7,500 hectares by 2054, and sequestering up to 3.4 million tCO₂e over the project’s lifespan.
SDG 15 (Life on Land): Conserving 550 hectares and restoring 4,000 hectares of forests by 2054 to protect biodiversity and ecosystems.
